SDSU vaulter gets second in NCAAs

UNION-TRIBUNE

June 14, 2008

San Diego State sophomore Stephanie Bagan finished second in the pole vault yesterday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. Bagan, runner-up to Cal's Katie Morgan based on attempts, earned All-America honors.

The 2008 NCAA West Regional champion cleared the first two bars set at 12-9½ and 13-1½, respectively, before needing two attempts to clear 13-5¼. She then vaulted 13-9¼.After other vaulters failed to clear the final bar set at 14-1¼, the top four spots were determined by attempts, with Morgan taking first after posting four first-attempt clearances. Bagan's miss at 13-5¼ gave her second.
