FIRST QUARTER

CHARGERS 14, RAIDERS 0

Key plays: The Chargers converted four third downs on their initial drive – a 16-yard pass from Philip Rivers to Malcom Floyd, a 23-yard run by LaDainian Tomlinson, an 18-yard pass from Rivers to Buster Davis and a spectacular 3-yard diving touchdown by Tomlinson. A minute later, Drayton Florence made a nice diving interception to give the Chargers the ball at the Oakland 39, and three plays later Tomlinson scored from the 27.

Key stats: San Diego dominated every category, including first downs (7-1), rushing yards (71-3) and passing yards (72-6). Tomlinson carried 10 times for 72 yards, giving him more rushing yards in one quarter than he gained in four of his first five games.

Not in the box score: The Chargers lost center Nick Hardwick with a foot injury on the seventh play of the game. He was replaced by veteran Cory Withrow.

SECOND QUARTER

CHARGERS 14, RAIDERS 7

Key plays: Rivers put the Raiders back in the game with a horrible pass that Thomas Howard intercepted and took 66 yards for Oakland's lone score of the half. But Daunte Culpepper returned the favor when the Raiders had first-and-goal at the 1 with 20 seconds left and he took back-to-back sacks, the latter by Shaun Phillips, who forced a fumble that Jamal Williams recovered. Those sacks were set up by Quentin Jammer forcing Ronald Curry out of bounds at the 1.

Key stats: The Chargers had just one first down in the quarter and 33 total yards. Oakland had six first downs and 78 yards, but its offense failed to score.

Not in the box score: The Chargers couldn't be accused of being overly aggressive. Leading 14-0 and needing a foot for a first down at the Oakland 44, Norv Turner opted to punt.

THIRD QUARTER

CHARGERS 21, RAIDERS 7

Key plays: With Rivers going 3-for-3 for 52 yards, the Chargers went 68 yards for a TD on their first possession. Rivers went to Antonio Gates for 28 yards and to Tomlinson for 12 yards on the first two plays; he later found Brandon Manumaleuna for 12 on third-and-7. On the next play, Tomlinson ran 13 yards for his third TD, getting a key block from Gates.

Key stats: The Chargers were back to dominating, with five first downs and 97 yards compared to Oakland's two first downs and 26 yards. (The Raiders had just 113 yards through three periods.) Tomlinson went over 100 yards for the eighth time in 13 games against Oakland.

Not in the box score: Tomlinson's TD gave him 105 rushing TDs in his career, fifth all-time (Jim Brown has 106), and 117 overall TDs, 10th all-time.

FOURTH QUARTER

CHARGERS 28, RAIDERS 14

Key plays: The Raiders cut the lead to 21-14, but it took them more than eight minutes to drive 60 yards for a TD; they converted three third downs and two fourth downs. But the Chargers needed just 2:35 to clinch the game with an 85-yard drive. Rivers went to Gates for 10 yards, Tomlinson ran for 16 and 11, and after two short runs, Tomlinson carried 41 yards for the final TD.

Key stats: Tomlinson finished with four TDs, one more than his total in the club's first five games. It's the fifth time he scored four TDs in a game, with four coming in the last 365 days (beginning one year ago today in San Francisco).

Not in the box score: Tomlinson tied Brown for fourth on the all-time list with 106 rushing TDs. Tomlinson has 118 career TDs, two behind Terrell Owens.
